The Churro blog

Practical writing on screen recording for Windows, Screen Studio alternatives, and getting polished demo videos out the door — from the team building Churro, the Windows-native alternative to Screen Studio.

We write here about the parts of screen recording we care most about: auto-zoom that actually follows what matters, backgrounds that don't scream "desktop clutter," vertical exports for social from the same timeline as your desktop demo, and privacy-first workflows that keep your recordings on your device instead of some cloud you don't control.

Most of what shows up on this blog answers a specific question we've been asked more than once. "Is Screen Studio on Windows yet?" — we wrote about it. "What's the best Screen Studio alternative for Windows in 2026?" — we ranked them. We keep the posts short on hype and long on the concrete: what the tool does, what it doesn't, what Windows versions it runs on, and what it costs.

We're biased. We built Churro because the answer to "how do I make a gorgeous demo on Windows?" was harder than it should have been. So expect Churro to lead the recommendations. We try to be fair about the rest — no smearing, no false claims — because a comparison you can't trust isn't worth publishing.
